Field Submission – Final Pieces

Subject Submission – Final Pieces

Design Object

I wanted to expand my previous design submission of the thread sieve and work that process into a larger lampshade design. I took a simple wire framed lamp shade and cut out all the paper sections so that I could insert the wire hoops with the wound thread to the frame. I am really happy with the outcome, it looks very colorful and is keeping with my other outcomes which is what I am aiming for.

Wall Hanging – Craft 3

In addition to adding to my original craft final piece I also made an additional stitch piece to be hung along side the bigger wall hanging just to add more colour and imagery to the final composition of my work so that it is all more cohesive as a body of work.

Wall Hanging – Craft 2

Wall Hanging – Craft

Instead of making a new final piece for my craft object I want to look at my original piece and add to it instead. At the time of my formative assessment I didn’t think the fabric piece looked finished yet.

It looks like I need to fill in some of the cream gaps, to add more bold colour to it. I think im going to do this by trapping bit of fabric and coloured string under machine stitch to create new forms. I may use multiple lines to connect some of the clusters of rings together, like some of my earlier design drawings for hanging light rings.

Deconstruction of Form 2

When reviewing my first unit of work to submit at the end of the year I wanted to improve on as many areas of my work as possible. I feel like a good starting point for this is to start making more models using different materials and techniques, as to then build on possibly making new outcomes for submission. One of my favorite pieces was the colored foam pieces that had been arranged in a geometric form then smothered in glue so it started to disintegrate. I really like the idea of creating forms then using different process to then alter that outcome. I decided to use foam pieces again and create some standing forms using different shapes. Then I took a heat gun to the melt the structures and create new outcomes to the form. I d this with three different structures.

La Perdrix – Clay Machine

I decided to make my part of the machine out of clay so I extruded a clay tube so the marble would go in one end and out the other. I added bits of clay to make the tube look like a dinosaur as well.
